Richard L. Peel
Richard Peel is the Managing Partner and one of the Founders of Peel Brimley LLP. Richard has been actively involved in the construction industry for more than 30 years. His practice is primarily devoted to (i) business formation and planning, (ii) complex construction, business and commercial litigation, including mechanic’s liens, right to stop work and prompt pay claims, (iii) alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation, (iv) contract review and drafting, (v) contractor licensing and administrative law, including contractor’s board complaints, and (vi) lobbying.
He has represented clients on private, public works and federal projects with respect to multimillion dollar claims. He is a panel arbitrator and mediator on the American Arbitration Association’s (“AAA”) Construction Industry Large Complex Arbitration Panel, and serves on the AAA’s Construction Industry Advisory Board in Nevada.
Richard drafted and was instrumental in the passage of the following Nevada laws, (i) the Prompt Pay Statute for Public Works (NRS 338.400 to 338.645), (ii) the Right to Stop Work Statute (NRS 624.606 to 624.630), and (iii) amendments to Nevada’s Mechanic’s Lien Statute (NRS 108.221 to 108.246).
